Free Helsinki island tour and budget food shopping

Did you know that Finland is the country with the most islands and lakes?Indeed it has almost 180000 islands. And there are some islands that are very easily accessible from the city Helsinki.

If the weather is really good all these islands are enjoyable and lively places to have picnic.

Have budget food shopping at LIDL first and enjoy a few hours at the island. There are some 2-3 euros soup available at K-market, 1 euro chocolate bar and snacks at Flying Tiger.

First of all, the islands you can visit by walking are

Seurasaari which has an open air museum free of charge and 

Tervasaari which is a small island with lovely lawn areas to have picnic.

Katajanokka is also an island which has many old buildings with interesting historical stories and known to have a former president who had lived there.  

Uunisaari can be accessed by walking during winter time only.

Then there is (UNESCO World Heritage Site) Suomenlinna which cost only 5 euros for round trip. You can find more about the ticket prices here.

Harakka is also a small island you can visit with just 5 euros for round trip.

There is  a free boat to Liuskaluoto island from somewhere around City Park Meripuisto offered by a boat club. Once you get to Liuskaluoto you can also visit to other connected islands like Liuskasaari and Uunisaari.
